On Saturday evening, November 9, 2024, a sell-out crowd of over 100 filled the library after-hours for a special evening at Well Red, our annual wine and beer fundraiser.

Helen Kate relies heavily on fundraisers for financial support, and Well Red is one of our most vital events. Guests enjoyed delicious light fare, craft beers, an array of wines, and warm conversations with friends and neighbors—all while supporting our beloved Library.

This year, the event raised over $16,000 for the library! Thank you to everyone who bought a ticket, bid on a silent auction item, or played Tipsy Toss. And a special thanks to our Premier Event Sponsor, Hollywood Landscaping, who not only sponsored the event but also beautified the property before the big night.

We look forward to seeing you at the next Well Red!

2024 Annual Appeal https://www.hkflibrary.org/annualappeal/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=annualappeal Mon, 01 Apr 2024 08:41:26 +0000 https://www.hkflibrary.org/?p=397 Can we count on your support in 2024? Your generosity will ensure the ongoing vitality of our treasured community institution.

The post 2024 Annual Appeal appeared first on The Helen Kate Furness Free Library.

]]>

Dear Friend,

Thanks in no small part to you, 2023 was an incredible year at Helen Kate Furness. We served 32,000 people and offered 260 community programs, from toddler story times and teen book clubs to author talks and free tax prep. We even brought the library to the community, with educational events at two Nether Providence Parks: Sapovits and Hepford.

It cost $479,584 to run Helen Kate in 2023, and government funding only covers around 60% of that annual operating budget each year. You and other supporters provide the remaining 40%—meaning you are quite literally helping to sustain our beloved library.

For 122 years, Helen Kate has delivered on its mission of bringing lifelong learning, discovery and joy to Nether Providence and Rose Valley, and you have helped make that possible.

Can we count on your continued support in 2024?

With gratitude,

Leah Kulikowski, Library Director &
Sandy DiCamillo, Board President

P.S. If received before May 9th, your gift could make an even greater impact by helping Helen Kate qualify for bonus funds from the Foundation for Delaware County’s Delco Gives initiative. Delco Gives Day (May 8 – 9) is a day of giving hosted by The Foundation for Delaware County to support nonprofit organizations serving Delaware County. Donations received between April 1 and May 9 can be counted towards our Delco Gives total, so your Annual Appeal support is helping us reach our Delco Gives fundraising goals!
